Green Room: April 10-14 & 17-21

The Green Room

April 10-14 and April 17-21, 2017

Hello and welcome to the Green Room!  The temperatures continue to feel very chilly on the farm with the constant blowing of the wind.  All that wind makes it feel especially cold in the morning when we do chores and want to spend time outside.  Please continue to send light weight (fleece) gloves or mittens in as well as hats.

Be sure to check the Kinderfarm website each week.  In addition to the classroom newsletters which outline the happenings in the classroom, the notes and reminders section keeps parents informed of important information.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give us a call at (319)351-3438.

  • Our share days this month are: April 12th & 21stPlease remember, that share day items need to fit in their back packs.  Do not send in anything glass.
  • Just a head’s up that if the weather is wonderful (fingers crossed!), we’ll be outside preparing the garden boxes, going on horse rides or being photographed with a favorite animal.
  • Mark your calendars now: graduation for our kindergarten bound Kinderfarmers will be Thursday, May 25th at 6:00 pm.

April 10-14:  Easter eggs 4 ways!

Mon (4/10):  Kinderfarmers will be challenged to cut out four pieces of an egg.  Can they put it back together again?  We’ll see what turns out!

Tues (4/11):  Today we will be painting with plastic eggs to make an interesting Easter egg.  I think the Easter Bunny will be impressed.

Wed (4/12):  An Easter egg hunt will occur today with the added challenge of putting the hidden letters of the alphabet in order as they are found!

Thurs (4/13): Share Day!  Please send in something for your Kinderfarmer to share with their friends.  The children will need one item for each class that they attend.

Fri (4/14):  Let the creativity flow; we’ll work on an Easter egg collage today .

Our chores this week are:  hens, goats and horse water.

April 17-21:  Spring is in the Air!

Mon (4/17):  Daffodils are typical spring flowers that grow in many of our garden beds.  Kinderfarmers will use a number of skills to create their own daffodils.

Tues (4/18):  Today we venture out to look for signs of spring!  Ask your kinderfarmer what we discovered!

Wed (4/19):  We’ll be outside clearing out garden boxes and breaking up the soil.

Thurs (4/20):  In the morning, we will be working out in the garden.  In the afternoon, Ms Casey from the ICPL will come read us some spring stories.

Fri(4/22):  Share Day!  Please send in something for your Kinderfarmer to share with their friends.  The children will need one item for each class that they attend.

Our chores this week are: Pearl, cats and recycling.

Everyday in the classroom, we are working on new skills, strengthening old skills and growing our classroom communities.  With the warm weather of spring slowly arriving, it will be wonderful to observe and explore how the farm comes to life during this new season of growth.

Have a wonderful two weeks,

Mrs. Sheri Waldron
